Job description
Are you a compliance professional who thrives on pace, complexity, and ownership and are you looking for a broad role within compliance? Can you translate laws and regulations into workable solutions in an organization that is constantly evolving? Then this is your chance to help build one of the fastest-growing fintechs in the Netherlands as a Compliance Officer.
At Floryn, you combine legal sharpness with entrepreneurial energy. You ensure that the organization remains compliant without slowing down innovation. In fact, you help the business find new opportunities within complex regulations. Floryn is growing rapidly, expanding internationally, and facing ever-changing regulations. Do you see compliance as a strategic challenge rather than a control function? Then you fit in perfectly here.
The challenge of the role
As a Compliance Officer, you are part of the second line at Floryn. You report to the Head of Compliance and advise colleagues from Risk, Product, Development, and Sales on complex compliance issues.
You determine how compliance is scalable within a rapidly growing and internationalizing organization. At the same time, you stay up to date on developments such as changes around PSD2, DORA, Wwft, AVG, AML regulations, and new European legislation like the AI Act.
Compliance at Floryn is not just about documents and policies, but is intertwined with our technology and processes. You actively think about how we apply compliance by design and ensure that our platform remains scalable and compliant. You don't need to be a developer, but you understand how data flows through a digital platform and find it interesting how automated processes work.
You understand that not every compliance challenge can be solved today. That's why you enjoy thinking about priorities and workable solutions. You feel at home in an entrepreneurial environment where speed, innovation, and regulations are constantly balanced.
Specifically, your tasks include:
Drafting, implementing, and maintaining compliance policies and procedures
Translating laws and regulations (such as PSD2, DORA, Wwft, AVG, and AI Act) into workable processes
Advising on complex CDD, KYC, and AML issues escalated from the Risk team
Conducting checks and reviews to ensure compliance
Identifying improvement opportunities and translating them into policy or process adjustments
Promoting compliance awareness within the organization through training and communication
Brainstorming with colleagues from different teams to recognize risks early
What does Floryn offer?
Salary between €5,100 - €6,900 gross per month (based on 40 hours)
30 vacation days + 8% holiday pay
Personal development budget and well-being allowance
MacBook Pro, iPhone, and noise-cancelling headset
Excellent travel allowance: 1st class NS Business Card, (electric) lease bike, or €0.23 per kilometer.
Hybrid working is possible, but we prefer to work together in the office to be able to switch quickly.
Working within an international fintech scale-up with plenty of room for initiative
Regular team outings, offsites, and legendary company activities
Job requirements
A completed HBO or WO degree (e.g. law, business administration, criminology, or economics)
3 to 5 years of experience in a broad compliance role, preferably in a similar work environment
You have a solid foundation in the Wwft and are familiar with relevant laws and regulations within the financial sector, such as PSD2, DORA, and the AVG. Experience with German GwG or BaFin guidelines is a strong plus
Excellent command of the English language (Dutch is not required)
You are pragmatic. You can assess risks well but know how to balance them against the needs and priorities of the business
You think in solutions without losing sight of laws and regulations
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
The courage to have conversations and address improvement points
Curiosity and a proactive attitude – you strive to do better every day
Where will you work?
Founded in 2015, Floryn is one of the fastest-growing fintechs in the Netherlands – and recently beyond. They are not a bank but entrepreneurs. This means: short lines, quick decisions, and thinking in possibilities. New ideas are welcomed, and good plans are executed swiftly.
From the beautiful office in Den Bosch, you will work with a team of over 80 smart and driven colleagues who enjoy building something bigger than today. This requires professionals who take initiative, take responsibility, and tackle substantive challenges. And you can be part of that!
A week at Floryn as a Compliance Officer
Monday
You start the week with a brief check-in with the compliance team. You assess how new regulations, such as the European AI Act, impact our automated credit processes. You look at transparency, data sources, and how AI applications are responsibly used in our services.
Tuesday
Development is working on a new feature within the platform. You join to discuss compliance risks and brainstorm on how the solution can be designed to remain innovative and compliant.
Wednesday
You work on an update of internal policies and translate new regulations into practical guidelines for the organization. In the afternoon, you conduct a short session for colleagues on compliance awareness in product development.
Thursday
You collaborate with colleagues from Risk, Development, and Sales on an issue related to international expansion. What regulations are involved, and how do we structure processes to remain scalable?
Friday
You complete an internal review of several processes and discuss your findings with stakeholders. Then you end the week with the team – sometimes in the office, sometimes with a drink in the city center of Den Bosch.
Every day is different. New regulations, new ideas, and new markets keep compliance at Floryn constantly evolving.
