Software Engineer

This is Floryn

Floryn is one of the fastest growing fintech companies in the Netherlands. We provide credit to businesses. We aim to be the most responsible, scalable and customer-friendly online lender in Europe. Therefore the technology that we build plays an essential role in everything we do. We’ve lent out over € 200 million since inception (2016) and have processed over € 1.5 billion in transaction volume. We do things our own way, we ship code every day and we take pride in our work.

Building great stuff together is what drives us. We develop all our technology in-house, with modern open-source technologies. Quality always comes first. We are with ~50 people, split over Development, Data, Risk, Marketing and Sales. On the technology side we work with experienced people and we like that. The technology we build has big real-life impact on businesses and people.

To further strengthen our academic connections and to provide a perfect community for innovation we are located in the same monumental building as the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, which hosts Bachelor and Master Data Science education tracks and is part of the University of Tilburg and Technical University of Eindhoven.

What you can tell people you do

You’re building a technology startup which is somewhat like a bank. You're working on a machine that is sending millions of euros around daily and is helping entrepreneurs to grow their business by providing business loans.

What you really do

You’ll be working on improving and expanding the platform of Floryn. Create new features and products, make better use of the data we collect and make sure we can deliver the best service as possible to our customers. Our hierarchy is flat and communication is direct, therefore we can operate and adapt quickly. You’ll work closely with the Development, Data, Risk, Marketing and Sales teams to make sure we are building the right product.

We have a technology neutral mindset to engineering and believe in well-tested, robust code. We love open source but are not religious about any specific language or framework. We work with modern open source technology such as Ruby, Rails, ES6, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS. Our Data team uses Python, Spark, Pandas, Serverless, Looker and more. We are using Machine Learning models in production and are aware of all the infrastructure around these models that is needed for them to perform well. We leverage open source technologies where we can. We’re big on continuous integration and deployment, automated testing and kanban, pull-based processes.
